Whitewater Falls


This is the upper of two major waterfalls on the Whitewater River. Both are among the tallest and most impressive waterfalls in the area. Whitewater falls is good in the spring, summer, and fall (especially for the colorful leaves).

Driving DirectionsFrom the intersection of US 64 and NC 281 south, take NC 281 south for about 9 miles to a left into the Whitewater Falls area. A fee may be required. Park here.
Walking DirectionsFrom the parking area, take the paved trail and wooden stairs to the overlook. The falls are visible from the end of the paved trail (no stairs required), but the view is somewhat better from the overlook.
