The Thompson River flows over a rhododendron-shrouded rock ledge, producing an interesting cascade.

Driving Directions | From the intersection of US 64 and NC 281 south, drive south on NC 281 for 3.5 miles to a left turn for Brewer Road. There will also be a gated dirt road leaving uphill from this intersection. Park near the gated road, without blocking the gate. |
Walking Directions | Walk south on the east side of NC 281 to the second guardrail (marked 202+20). A faint path (not a maintained trail) to the falls begins behind the second guardrail. The path begins with a cement drainage. After the drainage, head downhill and in the direction of the road until you reach the Thompson River near the top of White Owl Falls. This area has heavy undergrowth. |
